3-31-02             My Skin is Oily in Any Weather

Dear Karen,

I have oily skin, that to me is an understatement – no matter what I do, it is awful. I hate wearing makeup because the oil shows through right away. I live where the seasons change from high temperatures with high humidity to temperatures below zero and yet my skin is always oily, even in the dead of winter. Can you give me some advice on what to use or what to do?

Sonya

Dear Sonya,

Your largest organ, the skin, is screaming out for help. Many times, the things we do to ourselves are the causes of our problems. First you must look at your diet, vitamins, and any medications you may be taking. Hormones can also be the cause of excessive oil in the skin. Your diet should be well balanced, staying away from deep fried or fatty foods. If you are taking vitamins, look into vegetarian multi-vitamins, since many regular vitamins use fish oil for their vitamin A and that can cause your skin to become more oily and can cause breakouts. Always use a good skin care treatment like KDJ Skin Care Treatments. Use a lactic acid product with 12% AHA and a balancing moisturizer that will help to regulate the oils in your skin. KDJ’s Forever Younger Moisturizer contains a balancing agent called franesol that helps your skin feel silky smooth, never greasy. When using makeup, use an oil-free makeup like KDJ’s Minimal Makeup SPF10. It enhances the look of the skin without making it feel heavy or oily.

The following is KDJ’s basic daily skin care routine (morning and night):

  1. Ultimate One Step Cleanser
  2. Soothing Refining Grains
  3. Ultra Lactic AHA Treatment
  4. Eye & Throat Crème
  5. Forever Younger Moisturizer

In addition, you should mask twice a week to help unclog pores and refine the skin’s texture.
